Brief History of the Study Program
In an effort to meet the need for higher education that meets the demands of society, the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta opened a new faculty, namely FKIK (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences). The establishment of FKIK was initially intended to answer the challenges in realizing the concept of Healthy Indonesia 2010 initiated by the government which requires more Nurses (Ners), Pharmacists and public health workers. This is in accordance with UIN’s vision, namely to make UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta a leading higher education institution in integrating scientific, Islamic and Indonesian aspects.
To accelerate this integration, the Senate meeting of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on December 30, 2002 considered the importance of opening a new study program in the field of Health. The forum has recommended the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK). Based on the Senate’s decision, the preparation of proposals for four Study Programs under the auspices of FKIK began, namely Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing and the Doctor of Education Study Program. The FKIK establishment proposal drafting team is chaired by Prof. Dr. (hc), dr. M.K. Tadjudin, Sp.And. from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia who also acts as the Supervisory Faculty. The initiators of the establishment of FKIK at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are Prof. Dr. Azyumardi Azra, MA., Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, Prof. Dr. Abuddin Nata, MA, Drs. H. Achmad Gholib, MA and Drs H. Abdul Shomad, and others.
The Public Health Study Program proposal drafting team is a team from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia, chaired by Prof. Dr. Does Sampoerno, the Pharmacy study program proposal drafting team is chaired by Drs. M. Yanis Musdja, Apt., MSc while the Nursing Study Program proposal drafting team is chaired by Mrs. Tien Gartinah, MN.
The Pharmacy study program began in the 2004/2005 academic year with the issuance of a permit to organize the Pharmacy Study Program from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1387/D2.2/2004 dated August 6, 2004 and the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Religious Institutions, Ministry of Religion Number Dj.II/274/2004 dated August 8, 2004.
IIn 2018, FKIK was divided into the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty.
Medicine based on the Regulation of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2018 dated February 23, 2018 concerning the Second Amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Religion Number 6 of 2013 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta, Rector’s Decree Number 129 of 2003 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures, Statutes and Job Descriptions of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta and the Decree of the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Hidayatullah Jakarta No. 141a of 2018 dated February 26, 2018 concerning the closing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Opening of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The distinction of the pharmacy study program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is that the graduates of the pharmacy bachelor’s degree have Islamic integrity in carrying out pharmaceutical work, and are able to apply halal aspects in the field of pharmacy.
